Hi All

Just wondering what the Coopers situation is / will be?

Is the cause way at Innaminka open? if not any guess at this stage when it will be open?

How long with the ferry be required on the Birdsville Track?

When will the Coopers reach lake Erye?

How long will the Coopers flow into lake Erye for?

How much water in currently in lake Erye?

What other water ways are still flowing into lake Erye?

How full is lake Erye expected to get?

Sorry, as i wrote each question i kept thinking of another.

Kind regards
GN

Hi GN,

Just wondering what the Coopers situation is / will be?
Best estimate that I have heard is the Cooper cutting the Birdsville Track is on June 20.

Is the cause way at Innaminka open? if not any guess at this stage when it will be open?
I think there is still a minor flood at Innaminka. You could do a search for SA Road Reports. You'll find that on this website too.

How long with the ferry be required on the Birdsville Track?
Piece of string.

When will the Coopers reach lake Erye?
July?

How long will the Coopers flow into lake Erye for?
Unknown

How much water in currently in lake Erye?
See Lake Eyre Yacht Club and SA National Parks Web sites.

What other water ways are still flowing into lake Erye?
LAYC web page.

How full is lake Erye expected to get?
Similar to last year but the Cooper arriving and how much and for how long are the unknowns that factor into how much water the Lake will get.

I've watched the updates for a while as I'll be on the Oodnadatta Track in July. I reckon the best info is from some of the locals who post here from time to time. Be sure to do a search here and you'll get plenty of info. Have a good trip.

Hi TJ

Thanks for good summary, so sounds like Coopers could run in for quite a few weeks at least?

No. Causway will be closed for some time although Nappa Merrie bridge & road via Arrabury should be open much sooner.
3 to 6 months
6 to 8 weeks
3 to 6 months
About 1/3 of the lake is covered beween 10mm to 1.5 metres deep. Excellent view from the air, fair from the ground.
Kallakoopa & Warburton flow dropping. Some minor flows from local creeks into Lake Eyre Sth.
How full? Unlikely to be deep enough to launch your tinny but will look good for the next 4 to 5 months. If I was planning a trip to look at the water late July/August would be my pick.

This year more so than others access around the desert is very difficult to gauge with local & distant rainfall arriving at different times coupled with alot of road damage that is yet to be repaired.

OG when you see Walkers Crossing you'll understand why it will be closed for so long. The boggy flood plain where the road goes is over 5km wide. Would make the river crossing on your rigpic look like a puddle :-)

Hi GN

causeway is open (I walked across it last weekend)

questions on the Cooper - anybody's guess

I flew over the Cooper on w/end - Lake Hope is full and headwater is now about 20 km downstream

Both Warburton & Kallakoopah flowing into the lake but nothing from Macumba
