Hi all, we would appreciate any tips for reasonable bush tent
camping sites within, say, 20kms around
Sandstone as we will be going that way to
Wiluna late June.
We're happy to slip off into the mulga etc. Does anyone konow if Yingarrie
Bluff offers spots?
Cheers.

Plenty of Mulga there John.
I went down the track to
the bluff one day. The track petered out pretty quickly however I wasn't to inclined to see
the bluff. I took these two pictures there, one of
the bluff, and one of the scene to the north of a small
hill.

Much appreciated Alan, the GE image suggests it is rather barren but there'd be enough firewood easily for a one-nighter I would think.
Is there anywhere in WA you haven't been yet?
Cheers.

You might have trouble driving tent pegs in the ground in that area

That's the good thing about Black Wolf Turbo tents - unless it is windy, they don't need pegging out. They free stand with the weight of the bedding etc.
Cheers.

hi john
went throught there in a 15 vehicle convoy group years ago and it's not hard to find a spot amongst the mulga and quiet a few break-away sites
just be really carefull that you avoid running over the dry or green mulga stakes as they are as hard as steel and will go through the best tyres at the blink of an eye
enjoy your trip
cheers

John,
Not sure which way you are traveling but if you are coming through
Menzies worth while taking the dirt road and visiting Lake Bollard and the life sized sculptured figures on it -- extrordinary art work. After visiting there we traveled a couple of hours and just set up
camp in off the road in the scrub-- pleasant
bush camping. Next morning made our way into
Sandstone.
Regards,
Mike (Vic)

Hi Mike.
It's a good tip but we had visited them before.
Will probably do again as Anthony Gormley, the scupltor, is apparently getting re-commissioned to undertake a further 50 sculptures which would fulfill the original scope. The program was cut to the current 50 due to lack of funding.

Beat you to it MC. That photo was taken in 2003.
In 2006 my mate lost 15 kilos and took to calling me fatso.
I riposted with a loss of 27 kilos which I've managed to maintain. See photie from
the beach at Eyre.
Cheers.

John I was thinking of going that way to the
Wiluna get-together. Two spots I know of are:
Windsor Rest Area 77km west of
Sandstone, 76km east of Mt Magnet Lat 28 01 39 S Long 118 31 29 E
Peter Denny
Lookout 39km East of
Sandstone Lat 27 56 21 S. Long 119 37 46 E.
We'll be heading that way over the weekend leaving
Perth on Sat morning.
Cheers
