Hello PPL, I have a 95 80 series Landcruiser. It runs on LPG and has an auto. It seems to slip into first gear then engages into second gear with a thud. It does this randomly. Also the other gear changing seems very erratic. My question is, can the erratic gear changing be fixed by reprogramming the transmission controller?

Have you had it serviced recently as sometimes they over fill the oil.

The codes can be wiped, but most times its a computer fault that causes the gear changes to behave the way you explain.
Try and find a transmission workshop that has a machine and plugs to suit the L/C, sometimes a service on the tranny will solve the problem, but more than likely it will be a software problem. (ever been through deep water)

Your proberly right. Tranny CPU might have some faults, so i'll have someone take look at it. (Nope I've never been though water but the ex-owner might of. :-D) I'll keep you posted with my result.
