Hi all, iam looking at replacing my tyres on a 08 prado standard 265 x 17, i had cooper ATRs on my old rodeo wich were great at $265 each but now i have been quoted $345 each for the prado, i nearly fell over is there any tyre that comes close to the coopers for wear at a good price?
Also my 08 prado's fuel gauge shows me on ave. gets 900 - 1000 klm before the gauge flips over to the second
tank then i only seem to get 400 klm before the needle is on the empty mark, in my old rodeo i could drive for 200 klm after the low warning light came on i havnt seen the warning light come on in the prado yet but too frightened to test it out given the cost of new injectors.
Regars Brenton

Price up the Bridgestone D694 in AT and LT as they will suit you needs nicely, but be aware theyprovide a quite high level of grip on bitumen so will last for around 60000 for normal driving if you run them at 34 psi
Or look at the Goodyear Silent Armour in AT or LT as also an excellent tyre

Brenton,
the price of 265/65/17 tyres has come down heaps. Just look at the current Bob Jane brochure on their website - you can get the Bridgestone 694's for $282 each, or the Michelins about the same or if you want a cheapy - the Kumho for $219 each.

For the Prado, be guided by Rob's estimate above. they are a quiet tyre that give good mileage.
I'm running a set of 285/75R16 D694LT's that have done about 80,000k and have about 6mm left.

Driving on distance on a fuel gauge is fraught with danger.
Whats wrong with taking the supposed full capacity of the
tank and when you fill it take the mileage aginst the amount required to fill it should give you an idea of how much its using.
Also if the light hasnt come on run it a bit further next time and see what happens
As an indication my cruisers low light comes on with 10 liters in the main
tank and a bit less in the reserve.
Differences between makes could be anything and even between individual cars depending on the float in the
tank.
