EO Track Me - work overseas?

Seems EO TM works by sending a GPS position to a web page on EO.

So if I am travelling overseas (which I will be doing soon to Europe), would EO TM show my location on the EO page for my friends here and overseas?

John,

I reckon it would as long as you had phone reception.

Cheers Kev

The limits of the customised mapping system is Australia (not even NZ) by the looks of it.

Yep Andrew,

One limit I saw too.

But you never never know, unless you ask. :o)

Also is the software on the EO web site filtering out GPS co-ordinates outside Oz as errors?

You might also not like the data costs if phone is on roaming.

Thanks Graham,

I can pick up a 3G BYO phone sim card from Vodaphone UK for 1 month for 20 pounds.
includes 500mb of data and more than enough phone calls for keeping in touch with friends and rellies in Europe.

If EO tracker connection is by web address, should be OK.

John,

There is no reason the system will not work for any location in the world. At the moment the mapping shown on ExplorOz is set-up for Australia however it is a simple task for us to make it operate internationally and there is a plan to enable this under the eotrackme.com domain space that I am setting up. So the answer is yes but I just need to enable the mapping system to expand past Australia (which is not hard and could be auto programmed if your data points were not all in Australia).
As mentioned earlier you will want to ensure that you are on the right phone and data plan if you intend to use your device in overseas or you could even configure a device purchased O/S to use EOTrackMe.

If you want to proceed or discuss this further please drop me a or use the Feedback system.

Thanks for the offer David,

Will check out a few things and get back to you.

I used to be involved a little in software development (in CAD), and we used to work to the old adage of letting the users drive most of the development. You would always say , "we had thought of that, how do you think it should be done", to see where to push the market, and get more ideas. Not that you lie about anything, but to get too far ahead of users is also dangerous. :o)
