Maybe try this one on the Lcool forum. Good advice there.

Interesting question though...and how did you find out they were stuffed?

Did the car perform like a pig or what?

Cheers

I found that this happened with our tractors if the motor was shut down without a bit of cool down time after working reasonably hard. The injector needs the flow of fuel to keep cool in working conditions so when turned off too quick you will end up with working temperatures but no fuel flow . End result injector end melts.

Sounds like it wouldnt be doing the turbo any good either shutting it down if its that hot to do damage to injectors ??? Learn some thing new every day. Regards Steve M

mmmmm maybe you have a pump problem? i had one of those and it ended up breaking the crank. also this is not the first 2003 T/D i have heard of with interesting pump/injector related problems

Have you checked your Tappet clearances, Excess carbon build up another cause maybe the injectors weren't tensioned properly to dissipate proper heat transfer through the head.
Or the timer piston in the pump has failed giving loads of pre-ignition.
Is the cam timing correct.
Something stupid like The exhaust gasket hasn't broken and blocking of half the exhaust port on that cylinder.

Just a couple of thoughts
