Hi Last weekend 23/5 ordered from US a Lenser X21 torch.
Been tracking it's progress to get here and it is now in
Perth at the FedEx
depot. First time I have used the tracking and think it's great, will now be
sitting at the door waiting for it to be delivered and get my hands on it.
I think that's
dam good service.

The Lensers are very nice!
Also expect to see a few new model Maglites on the market very shortly - they have some catch up to do...

I have had a 3D maglite for many years and thought they great. Now I have purchased an Lenser P17 for $150 and they leave the maglite for dead. I did see an LED maglite in at BCF yesterday, is taht the new one you are talking about.

The LED's have been around for a while from my understanding...
There are a few new models just being released..the one of most interest is the ML125 which is a 3C LED Rechargeable which takes either the included NiMH battery as
well as regular alkaline. Also has 7 mode switch - eg Full, 50%, 25% etc etc...

Hmmm Lenser @ $650 dollars??? You have to be kidding me! It's just a bloody fancy torch..
My LED Maglite cost $29. Think I'll save the extra for a couple of tyres or a slab or two. LOL

That's a far better price than local, Brian, but still would get me a Bridgestone 694, a slab and an LED Maglite ;-))
Still, no-one will be able to say to you, "mines bigger than yours" :-))

The O-light SR90 puts out twice as much light as the X21 - using only a single 30 watt LED -

You should give it it's correct name Mike - the "SR90 Intimidator".
A review here
One of the replies says that the usable beam distance is 'only' 600 m ...
I wonder how much they cost.
Cheers

Be damn handy should the headlights on the fourby ever pack it in. Actually - torch is probably brigher!
In reality of what practical use to the average punter would a torch reaching out to 'only' 600 metres be? Me thinks it is a wee bit of overkill.

I've started building a Headlamp using the same SST-90 30 watt LED using the SR90.
Just the LED costs about $50 and the main distributor in the US had a minimum charge of $70 US to send it here !!! Fortunately I found a more helpful small business over there.
The cheapest torches using the SST-90 cost $100, but they don't deliver the full 9 amps into the LED. No-one sells a Headlamp using this unit.

Hmmm, a 9 Amp current on a headband Mike - that could get interesting!
You would also need to be careful not to glance at a reflective surface. That woud leave spots before your eyes for a while.
Interesting project though.
Cheers
