We're planning a trip to Mount Isa in July and I'm just wondering if anyone has had any recent experiences on the track from Windorah to Boulia via Bedourie, and if so can they comment on road conditions?

Try the tourist info office in Windorah. The lady who runs the office (Name I forget but she is excellent) is excellent and I think her hubby is the police office in town. She seem to have her finger on the pulse

Hi Carl,
Travelled through 3 weeks ago with LC80 and camper. Road sign at Windorah said closed but this was only for the grader to clear out some soft spots towards Monkira. Qld Gov website said open to high clearance. Should be no problem now. There is a big road rebuilding team at Monkira wityh extensive road works going on but no problems. The country looks fantastic, the bird life is amazing. Never seen so many brolgas and ibis. Enjoy your trip

you will have to get some groceries at Windorah but try to get most before you get here. They are very expensive and it is only as might imagine a very small store.

The road conditions will have changed by the time you travel, particularly as there has been rains again in that area - having said that, the road crews have been working flatout to get the roads ready for the 'season'. As for groceries - I am unsure what was meant by having to get food etc in Windorah. There is a good small general store there, but in Bedourie there is a well stocked small supermarket and in Boulia there is a very good supermarket and butcher (as they are on bitumen it is easy to replenish from Mt Isa way), If coming from Quilpie there are two good supermarkets, a bakery and butcher shop. You have chosen a good route for your road trip and you will enjoy it I trust. Happy travels.
