There is a caravan and camping park at the resort. Fill up before you get there as their fuel was expensive when I was tere in 2008. Great place to see.

Make sure you book a tour at Undara as the tours do book out in the morning.
You can
camp in a very
nice camp area at Undara with good clean facilties. On site there is a licensed restaurant with take away alochol(yipee).
The Undara site sits in a NP area, and not much around the immediate area.
Lots of walks and a few of the shorter tours to suit a
young family. We took our boys there when they were 18mand 3.5.
We stayed in the teepees which were
well organised and had all the basic bits.
Its a great place to go and would highly reccomend.

Make sure you book the full day tour otherwise you won't get to see the best tunnel, at least thats how it worked when we were there a few years ago.

When we visited Undarra the CP was full to the brim so in the in the end we missed out on seeing the lava tubes. Book ahead to get in or seriously consider staying at Mt Surprise CP and going on one of their tours out to Undarra. That's what we are going to do next time (stay at MT Surprise), instead of driving straight past and regretting it.
WBS.

Hi watto,
when we visited the lava tubes we stayed two nights at Innot Hot Springs and drove down for the day, the hot springs are worth a trip on there own. we also spoke to people who bushed camped at the turn off to the lava tubes and they had no issues at all either
but for me i would again stay the Innot and just travel down? it's a fair way but

Craig,
Have to disagree with the last post as, we stayed there (Innot springs) last year and the place is terrible. All the backpackesr stay across the stream and bath there or wander to
the springs for free.
Stay at Undarra in the CP but book only the half day tour. Full day is too much for the kids. Do a tour of the "Crater" yourself as it is free and you can walk around at your own pace. (kids in mind) Take some snacks and coffee as there are facilities at
the crater. (tables, tap seats etc)
Take a good torch for everyone on the lava tubes tour. Certainly book early. Take the family for dinner in the cafe at Undarra but be early. Nice activity and gives the wife a nice break.

thanks for all your replys and
information it has been exceptional helpful and hopefully will finish our trip to the cape of with a adventure i have been wanting to do for many yrs I am hopping that a lunch time trip to innot hot springs is enjoyable for the family on our way through to undara i think we will stay at Undarra CP and have to think about the tours as carlsp says half a day is probably more than enough for my
young kids, Undara is somewere we can visit again as we live in central QLD and north QLD is not out of reach for regular holidays.
once again thanks
