I am having trouble converting UTM co-ords as found in the "4wd days in the goldfields of WA" and the Pilbara books to use with my garmin nuvi 660. The options on the nuvi does not have a utm format. I have checked in the members section for file swap and there is a file for converting lat/long to utm but not the other way around. Also searched the forum and found nothing. Lots of discussion but no method to convert co-ords. Can anybody help?
Thanks in advance.

The fileswap area contains a file to convert between UTM and Lat/Long. Open the file and look at the sheet name (down the bottom) and select the 2nd one which converts "E,N Zne to Latitude & Longitude"

The filename is Convert from Lat & Long to UTM coordinates

There are numerous other options, ranging from Google Earth to Gday programs etc. Hope that helps.

briggzee (WA),
You can download a Excel spreadsheet from
http://www.icsm.gov.au/gda/gdatm/index.html, select
Download GDA Technical Manual Spreadsheets (360kb)
and use file redfern.xls
If your Datum is GDA then E 742,392.0, N 6,589,205.0 is
Latitude -30° 48' 19.8" 119° 32' 00.6"
