Rudall River National Park

We are thinking of visiting the Rudall River National Park in the next week or so - can anyone give us up to date track information?
Thanks
Murrah

DEC WA do NOT have any warnings listed under their "Parks, Trails and Road Closures" listings for Rudall River NP on thier website.

Murrah, Which way are you planning to go? Planning to go thru the park myself in August. Will be interested in a report of tracks etc. Thanks in advance. John

Hi John
Spent just under a week in Rudall. We accessed it from Marble Bar and the Telfer Mine Road. You do not need a permit for this road but Telfer prefer you to ring and let them know (but I don't think you have to do this). The road is in good condition - wide and relatively smooth. The actual tracks in Rudall are fine - some are a bit sandy. We exited via the Talawanna (and organised a permit through the Jigalong community) which was in excellent condition. It is only part of the southern section of roads in the park which are a little corrugated but not too bad if you lower the tyre pressures. Take plenty of maps (including GPS co-ordinates if possible) - we found that none of the tracks were marked and it does seem to be a bit of a rabbit warren of tracks when you get in there - but definitely worth it. Have a great time

Hi Murrah

We were at "Rudall" for three days in late April / early May this year, the tracks at that stage were ok, just rocky and a little rough at stages. The drive into "Desert Queen Baths" was slow going but had no real problems, it ranged from sand to rock but we got through with ease pulling tvan camp trailer, the same goes for the "Graphite Valley" track.

We entered from the North (Telfer Mine) and on our exit out of the southern end of the park we took the 28 km track to the south west onto the Talawana, this track is heavily overgrown with some wash outs and looked like it had not been used for awhile (expect some scratches if you go this way) but it is a good drive.

In general at that stage the tracks were good.

Cheers and enjoy, it is a great location.

Just looking for a bit more info - how are the water levels in Rudall i.e. at DQB and Jarra Pool? From last years report water levels were very low - non existant.

Is there more water this year?

Thanks<

There was plenty of water in DQB - the first pool and second were fairly clear. The third was a little lower - didn't go any higher than that. Didn't have a look at Jarra Pool (not sure where this was) but Kalkan Soak had water as well. We had been told that everything was dry but didn't prove to be the case. didn't spend as much time there as we would have liked so didn't see it all - but will be going back
