Hello all

Could any one please shed some light on replacing the standard exhaust system on a current Turbo Diesel Hilux.

A friend had been quoted a price of $950 installed for a Mandrel Bent 3inch exhasut system all the way back to the dump pipe and a stainless high flow cat converter, any thought on performance increase in power and value for money on changing the exhaust system.

Keen for any feedback

thanks in advance

In the V8 79 series ute - we put this on - cost $950 3 years ago and made a big difference to performance and fuel consumption. We recommend it and the company who did it for us are one of the most highly regarded for this type of work in and all over Australia.

Turbo lux

This is trick for any turbo diesel, and it works a treat, gets them breathing, and keeps EGT down.
I disagree with the fact that you need stainless, just to kep the price down.
You will notice the difference, immediately, even in those little 3 lt morors, especially when you tow.
When I had a 3.0 TD Navara, I had it done and loved it.
Within 1 week of gettin gthe Patrol, I had it done, and although it cost $820, including the bigger dump pipe, I have never regretted it.
Bloke next door got the fance stainless one done, from Beaudesert Exhaust, $1,800 plus, for his new 3 lt TD Patrol, and if the "grenade" don't go bang, then he has made a wize choice.

Cheers

I had a straight through 2 3/4" system fitted to my old 2L 2.4 litre Lux after adding a turbo and found it breathed a whole lot better with no significant increase in noise. Local exhast shop at the time did it for 170 odd or thereabouts but no fancy stainless cat etc.
