Hello, We are going to the Goldfields and middle WA for some prospecting and touring. I wish to know if others have any bad experiences with safety or security of their camping equipment if left unattended for a period during the day ? Obviously we are relying on peoples honesty if out in the vast area.

Hi
John
We travelled around Oz for 6 months last year. There was only a couple of times we thought something might get knocked off. We left our site plenty of times and nothing was pinched, we may be just lucky. 99% of the people are good and will look after your gear as it was their own. Its a judgement call, but bad people also take holidays. I made sure that I said hello to the people in the
camp ground to get a idea of their nature.

try setting your
camp off the road then down a track then down some track which comes off of the track then off of a track which comes off of the track which comes off the road then through the bush a bit so you cant be seen from the track which comes off of the track which comes off the track which leads to the road
Honestly i ve never come accross another person when out bush on the track - i dont think youd have much to worry about

Thanks for the tips, we really appreciate someone elses experience. We have both done a lot of camping and caravanning but in a more controlled environment, ie. in caravan parks and busy lakeside areas which have all been good. although I do remember losing the plug out of the sailing dinghy by some idiots across the way because I sailed over their fishing line.

Hi
John,
I make sure that the "good stuff" Generator fridge etc, are locked/chained up but the rest are just left in
camp when i'm out bush. Its only when I'm closer to town or staying in c van parks that I've had to put things away.
Cheers Wilko
