Hi to all
Has anyone visited this Farm Stay resort in the N.T.?
How long have you stayed?
Are the facilities and activities worthwhile?

Gday Graeme

My wife and i were on a tag along tour last year going
from Cairns to Broome and stayed one night at
Lorella Springs. They had good facilities with hot showers
via a wood fired donkey. The thermal springs were a relaxing
way to spend the afternoon. At 4 pm a bell was rung
announcing the start of happy hour at the bar, where beer and wine
were sold.

We would have loved to stay for a couple of days and tried some
of the excellent fishing, but as we were on a tight schedule
we marked it on the map for a longer stay next time.

Cheers Angus

G'Day Graeme,
We stayed there October last year Rhett & his mother are wonderful hosts.
Would definitely stay there again if I was in the area.

Hi Graeme,
We've been there 3 times so far & love the place. It is remote & that is what makes it so special. The hot springs near camp are wonderful at the end of the day. (warmest in the early part of the season.

The natural water slide, cold water holes , plenty of fishing spots , cherabin , 4wding, spotting freshies (crocs) - all add up to keep you occupied.
We have stayed there for 8 nights.Fresh supplies for a longer stay can be gotten from Boroloola only a nice days round trip away.LOL!!!

Go there, enjoy & then tell everyone else you meet.
Cheers
Blackie

PS - if you are coming across the Savannah Way drop into KFC on Bowthorn Stn - nice spot too.

Hi Graeme

We have been there once. It is a 35 km drive in (from memory) from the Roper Rd, the road was good when we went in, but like all dirt roads it would vary greatly. The facilities were basic but good, wouldn’t want to be there with too many people though. As said they have thermal pools just in case you’re not already warm enough, hot pools in the tropics are a bit lost on us. The hosts change most years. I would think a 2 or 3 day stay would be nice at the camp ground, have a poke around, there is a large water hole near the camp that you can throw a lure in. Doubt you will get much but you never know, you may well be being watched as you stand on the bank so BE CAREFULL. The real fishing is to be found further along the track at the Rosie Creek(NEED BOAT), depending on the time of year this track will vary from very hard to extreme, as it was when we went out there. See my profile pic’s. First 35 km is deep rutted stuff the next 35 km is a bog if there has been rain, all good fun. Would we go again, YEP!

Graeme
I meant to say, it's a bush camp, don't expect a resort. Tin shed for Dunnies, Tin shed for Bar, where the hosts will probably live in a van with no aircon.
Still a nice place though :-)

Check out their website HERE

This is from their latest update:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
NEWSLETTER UPDATE 1st June 2010

To bring everyone up to date, as you all probably know, on the day we were due to open, 1st April 2010, Cyclone Paul was dumping rain and blowing gale force winds, right over the top of Lorella.

So the road in was closed, and our opening was put back until the weather had cleared.

If you had tried to contact us, all of our communications were out because of the cyclone, but are now working again.

The good news is that we are now open, the roads are passable, and everything is extra green and the waterfalls flowing beautifully.

The roads from Borroloola and Cape Crawford are officially open as far as Lorella and further up to Nathan River National Park and beyond. Also, people are using the road from Roper Bar down, and should be officially open soon.

Offroad Vans and even some just Bush Prepared Highway Vans are coming through.

As usual, we recommend that you slow down and take it easy on the road, as well as check the creeks before crossing them.

The Roads Maintenance people have started grading the road to Lorella from both the Roper Bar end and the Southern end. The fresh grading should make the trip here easier for the less adventurous visitors.

So get your cameras, fishing gear, and your relaxing state of mind ready ... and come and enjoy some time with us. You won't regret it.

Best Regards
Rhett.

Hope this helps.
regards
