Gday,
Hopefully we are heading to Northampton in a couple of weeks so I thought Id make a list of contacts, km between towns and planed stops etc.
Any one who has done this trip sees any mistakes Ive made or wants to make any comments it would be appreciated.

Cheers
Hairy

Hi Hairy

We are 1½ hours time different not ½ hour. I find your spreadsheet a bit hard to read, so not quite sure of your time frames and distances you hope to travel in a day (which as you know will vary greatly on road condition on the day). We had three overnight stops along the GCR but we were towing, and one day had to stop early due to conditions. If you plan only two overnight stops (yellow squares) let everyone know to stay off the roads the day you 'fly through'. Also you know to beware of camels; they are far more prolific WA side than in the NT. We will only drive in daylight hours.

Thanks Motherhen,

If you click on the picture it should blow up a lot bigger?
Ill adjust the time difference like you suggested.
I think the longest stint is about 980km which isn't a lot compared to what we are used to ( depending on road conditions of course) but if we don't make it that far its really no drama...we will just drive to the conditions and stop when tired.
As for camels....we're getting heaps of them too plus other animals....I rarely drive at night now and if I do we slow down and have a good set of lights and a spotter but we are planning to stop before it gets dark and set up camp...we also have a few rest stops on the way as Ill have two dogs with me.

Thanks for your input

Cheers

Hi Hairy,

Move your 'change time' thingy up one place. Even though Warakurna is in WA, the servo operates on CT.
Add in Yalgoo (118.4 k's) after Mount Magnet. Nice Pub there.

Have a good trip.

Hairy

A friend just came back over the Great Central Rd (2 weeks ago) and said it was in excellent condition. 100-110kph towing a Kimberley trailer behind the Cruiser.
