Theft of caravans campers and other equipment

After reading Thread 79080 and older Threads about
the steps people take to secure their equipment I was also very surprised with the amount of equipment stolen from yards, parks and camping spots.As I asked before is this problem wide spread or is it confined to certain areas.I have camped in some remote areas and never had a problem but must admit I do keep away from the
well populated areas. I am looking at making my
camp site a bit more secure now thanks to these low life's.

Don't most caravan thefts occur in towns/suburbs, be it from people's own yards which is probably the most commonly reported, caravan sales yards and sometimes even caravan parks?

Spoke to a rep at work today who told me a friend had his van stolen from beside his house. The
police said they usually never find them as the van is put into someone's back yard as a spare room for one of the kids or taken bush and put onto a property and use for accommodation
