( i would like somewhere to put the snatch strap ) i phoned a few 4wd places and they all say its too hard to find a place to put it .(hook) , bolt holes dont line up they reckon . one place said get a set of original tow points from wreckers but does anyone know the rating of these . i dont think they will fit anyway because there is a bash panel there . any ideas .

Hi Glenno
I have a 78 series troopy and want the same but have found like you it seems to be a problem.
Hopefully someone can provide us with a answer.

Regards
John

With my TJM Bullbar, the holes lined right up , and I was able to mount two rated hooks with zero problems.

The Arb bar is not that different, a minor mod to the bar and you should be able to use the original mounting holes on the chassis.

I thought ( might be wrong) that the original "tow hooks" were only tie down points and not rated.

The 78 series Troopy comes with 2 tie downs on the front plus some have 2 rated towing eyes suitable for recoveries aslo fitted. Unfortunately, when a bull bar is fitted, these recovery points are ususally removed. We have fitted a recovery point ot our bull bar but would prefer one fitted directly to the chassis as there are less bolts to potentially give a problem.

Also I have noted is that the 2 tie down points are of a similar and size construction to recovery points that I have seen on some bull bars.

At the rear, we use our tow bar (ball removed of course)

I have a hilux with an arb bar and it had 2 holes on each side down on the bottom of the bullbar... and these lined up perfectly with the recovery hooks available from arb - 15 bucks each i think.
ask your local ARB guy - ymmv.

cheers,

KG

theres nowhere on the front of my troopcarrier to put a rated recovery hook (too attach a snatch strap) , it has a arb winch and bullbar, arb cannot put one on(not recommended too drill the chassis ,i agree) and the original recovery points that were taken off wont fit on because the bullbar tubing that fits over the chassis is too big now to enable fitting of the old original ones back on . can anyone help ????????
