HI all,
Just wondering if anybody that owns a 3ltr Nissan Patrol has noticed the Hugh increase in oil prices at services ?
On 13/5/2009 had 50,000 km service done, oil used was Nissan Magnatec Professional 5W-40 cost $98-40. On 4/6/2010 had 60,000 km service done, same oil used cost $182-75.
Both services done by same Nissan dealer. Am I being ripped off or not ?
Cheers P&J

PandJ,
Just my view but I wouldn't let a Nissan Dealer anywhere near my Patrol, They're over priced and do under-service (If that's a word).
Cheers Dave..

Dave,
I only have a few months to go with the warranty then I won't use them as they rip you off for sure.

I have to agree. There are plenty of anecdotal stories (from those employed by Dealers) that they are so busy on some days they just drive the vehicle in the front and out the back again and the only thing that gets changed is the service sticker on the windscreen

I would question that as Magnatec in 5lt is $33 mostly.

The Pro stuff surely cant be much more How much does the engine take.

I supply my own oil so I know what its going to cost me.

you obviously know very little about oil , 5w/ oil is fully synthetic and
is costs a lot more than non synthetic . compare apples with apples !!!

5W oil is NOT necessarily fully synthetic and is only the viscosity. Fully synthetic oil is banned by Nissan in the ZD30.

Had the first service done by Nissan as it was free, otherwise I would not let them near my car.

Once bitten twice shy.

Your lack of planning does not constitute my emergency.

Have only used the best quality Nulon in my car and it costs me just over $80 in oil for a change.

"Nissan" oil is crap, magnetec is not much better. Nulon was never tested in the oil rankings for the ZD30.

Basically you've got two really good choices.

- Caltex Delo 400 Multigrade 15w40 JASO-DH1 ($90 for 20L)
- Mobil Delvac full synthetic 10w40(?) JASO DH-1 for $80ish for 10L

Get the Dello. Either from a Caltex Energy depot or www.lubesonline.com

Have a gander on patrol4x4 for ZD30 oil, more has been written on ZD30 oil over there than this forum has archives.

Also dont let nissan near patrols, especially ZD30s, they do not treat them any different to a pulsar/tiida. Your warranty is valid anywhere.

Its Delo and DH-1 in both cases, must be the only forum in the history of the internet that does have an edit button.

Mobil Syth 'S' 10W-40 (Super 'S' same thing different package size) is a better option than fully synthetic which is banne by Nissan. Read your owners manual and Nissan service bulletins
