Hi All, A mates heading over to
Cairns at the start of January. He's planning on heading out through
Leonora to Ayers Rock and then
Plenty Highway. Anyone have any advice on conditions at that time of year, fuel (diesel) etc? Also would
HF radio be a neccesity?
Thanks,
Wayne

Tell your mate to fly and send the car by truck.........much nicer, less hassle and probably cheaper as
well. If he insists on driving in the heat where ground temperatures can reach 70-80C then he must carry plenty of
water. A Satphone or HF would be distinct advantage. Take spare belts and hoses as it the outside will be HOT and the vehicle temp will be HOTTER ! and melt downs could occur :-)
