I have
mine hardwired under the bonnet to my aux battery, so far have had no issues.
Cheers Kev

I have always run my compressor off of the Aux battery in all of my 4X4's for all intents when the engine is running the aux battery is the same potential as the cranking battery anyway.
Reason for running the compressor off of the Aux battery is so that it leaves the cranking battery for just that cranking and running the essential vehicle stuff.
My compressor has also always been mounted into the vehicle and hard wired.

Not a 'smart' comment here..
But why would you think there may be a problem??

Signman,
I have always run my compressor off the starting battery due to the fact that I thought when running the compressor it would pull around 20+ amps thus draining the aux battery (fullriver agm) to quickly and as agm batteries don't like to be drained too quickly I "thought" this may harm it. I also keep the vehicle idling when I use the compressor so it keeps charging the starting battery.
Apparently, going on what has been said above and below my concerns are unfounded. Now I feel like a bit of a goose!!. A stupid question is one you don't ask, as they say.
Cheers

My compressor is hardwired to the aux battery, so is my UHF...no problems for over 10 years. Cheers, Ian

We have an Anderson Plug on our compressor wire, and a wire from the battery to an Anderson Plug on the bull bar, snap together and away you go.

Thanks guys.
It looks like my fears were unfounded.
I will now go ahead and wire the compressor up to the aux battery.
Cheers

I have had one problem with running everything off the aux battery.
Been running fridge, compressor and CB etc off the aux battery.
Some mornings, the CB has not transmitted properly, i.e. a garbled signal.
Worked out the voltage was too low, the voltage cut out had tripped on the battery.
But that is more from running the fridge than the compressor.

They do recommend for that reason to run your UHF or any Comms gear from the main battery.
