We arrived at Palmerville station with permission from the Cook Shire Council to travel the newly aquired road to Maytown. Despite this written permission we were repelled by the property owner. We advised Laura police who told us he had no right to repell us.

The Laura police advise us to tell others the road is open and can be used though not yet gazetted. Locks on gates should be removed by cutting chains and leaving locks at the gates (police advice). Police have advised us to tell others who have problems with the property owner to call Laura Police on 0740603244

We have unconfirmed advice that some roads in the area may have spikes placed on them to puncture tyres. If you suffer a puncture, report to Laura Police

We plan to go from Maytown to Palmerville Rd in a few weeks, we have spoken to the engineer at the Cook Shire council and he was definate about the access being available. But on the safe side I should pop into Laura Police station prior to heading down to Maytown. I am sure a lot will happen over the next few weeks.

Anyone else with any experiences, I would be glad to here about them (good or bad).

Thanks

Glen the copper at Laura is keen to travel the track. I suggest anyone planning to travel Palmerville to Maytown contact Glen and ask if he would like to accompany them
