I had a look at these today and they are extremely light being made totally out of aluminium without any wood at all.

They fold out off the ground and are quite spacious. On the downside they rely on a press-button cap system for the camper cover and keeping the tent pressed against the trailer. This can easily be fixed with velcro or elastic strap system.

The tent seems resilient and mainly made of vinyl material. This means unlike canvass it insualtes more in winter. One would assume it would be stifling in summer but windows are everywhere on them and canvas surrounds the windows. I do most of my camping in colder months.

They are already wired for some electrical appliances and on the larger 8.0 (8 foot trailer) and 10.0 (10 foot trailer) there's a sink, tap and facility for power connection etc. The forums in the USA say they are a good camper and overall they get the thumbs up.

Any thoughts on this sort of design/structure for Australian conditions? I'm strongly considering one but would like to hear more experienced views please particularly about the structure and materials.

Here are some links/images from the Aussie agent (no I get no kickbacks lol):

Sorry I should have added I'm almost an exclusively on-road camper myself. Occasionally I do fire trails/gravel etc. but never harsh off-road.

Wow, me thinks that one trip up the Oodnadatta track, may sort this one out

As you said you stick to the black stuff, it may be OK ,,the question you need to ask yourself is what if one day I decide to take it up a bumpy road, then what ?

There are lots of locally made trailers, so have a loook at them.

Cheers
