Hi, as you may be aware we have just had many hassles sorting out our leaking fuel tank hoses and ended up getting the pipes that come off of the tank and off of the filler professionally sleeved to make them take the standard fuel line hose (38mm). anyway now it's all back together we put only a couple of litres of fuel in the tank to take it to get more fuel (we also have LPG) and when opening the fuel cap there is quite a considerable amount of pressure, (more than our commodore has). my question is, is that normal for these tanks to pressure up as it's always had a leak or 2 before so we have never noticed it? or is there a breather hose that may have a problem somewhere?
thanks from chris.

Chris,
It sounds like the breather hose is kinked or blocked, Though the more space in a petrol tank the more the pressure can build up.
Cheers Dave..

Had a similar problem in our petrol Troopy. In our case vapour is vented through a charcoal filter that had blocked up somehow.

Is it pressure or vacuum?

hi, yes it's definitely pressure, as soon as the cap is loosened slightly there is a real noise of pressure escaping, so for the time being and to be sure we have not fully tighten the cap until we can get time to drop the tank AGAIN, thanks from Chris.

hi , i would be looking at your carbon canister and fuel vent lines from the tank to it , and then the line from the canister to the intake side of the engine, but if raw fuel got that far it would leak out of the bottom of the canister, as they to have a drain for safety reasons
