american guy
I really don,t know much about your market it's become apearnt that you guys might know more about the american market than we know about your's
you see ford tyrucks top the maket in my part of the us all trucks ranging from 1/2 ton to 2 1/2 ton ford here offers a wide range of power plants for these trucks
every thing from a 4.2 litre v6 to a woping 6.0 liter diesel pushing 300 bhp with 500 ft pounds of torqe these trucks are awsome now i know the market is mostly made up of 1/4 to 1/2 ton and seems that land rovers and toyotas seem to the choice and that's about it.

We do see the odd yank tank over here, but mostly jap vehicles, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Ford Courier, and less and less Landrover thats as far as work vehicles go ie
farm tray backs.
The RV as you said Toyota tops the list with Nissan a close second, these are in the 4 door vairiant, with Pajero and Jackaroo following on.

Hey there american guy, we have 'medium' sized fourbies as our mainstream rides, there are only a few 'big' trucks like the f250/ 350 chev c20 suburban dodge ram etc. this is mainly to do with our price of fuel ( around $4 per gallon ).
Also most of our tracks in the national parks and state forests are fairly narrow and you wouldn't fit a 'big' rig between the trees. We don't have manicured 'trails' with air up stations and wash bays either !! Import taxes and duties also restrict our purchases as we can pay up to $100k aus for a flash vehicle ( $ 70k us)
Personally i have a 98 model GM Holden Jackaroo with the 3.5l v6 5 speed manual (Isuzu Trooper to you) and love it.. Good to hear from you American Guy. Brad

Hey there, I am currently running a Chev Suburban with a 6.5lt turbo Diesel in it. Not many floks here are running them as full time off roaders but
mine is getting a fair bit of a work out. Had a few bit of negative
feedback when I went to purchase it, mainly due to its strength and it's ability to handle our rough conditions. I am yet to seriously fault it. There are still no cars on the road here that will give me the same flexability. The Toyota and Nissan will come close to seating but not the room for the family. Most people think they are too big to get around too much but little do they realise they are not much wider than the 100series Toyota. There are quite a few of the Ford pick-ups now being bought up here in
Darwin as work trucks. I think as the prices come down a bit there will be a market for them as there are no other tow vehicles of the same capacity and weight around other than the chev imports $$$$$$$.
Later.

Judging by the comments on the Toyota Landcruiser Discusson Board which is mainly made up of US and Canadian Landcruier owners most of them are quite annoyed at not being able to buy manual and diesel Landcruisers, especially 70 series variants,Nissan Patrols and Landrover Defenders. After the FJ40 ceased importation into the US they could only buy the FJ 60 with a 4 speed and later a FJ 62 with an auto. Now all they get are petrol auto 100 series which puts them out of reach of most
Ive aways liked big 4x4 but the Ford 100 and 150 had twice Toyotas warranty claims. I know some are fans of the Suburban but it had as short life here before it disappeared.Im not sure about the rest of Australia but the F250 and F350 are big sellers in
Perth WA and if I could afford one I would look into it
