evening everyone.
Just after lunchtime today i was on my way home from Brisbane when i needed to stop at the Sleepy Hollow rest area just south of tweed heads for a pitstop.I had left my truck for all of 1 minute to visit the loo and upon my return i discovered that my work phone & my private phone had vanished. There were two young blokes of about early twenties sitting in a car when i had pulled in and no one else was there at the time.
And these sort of people reckon that we should give them RESPECT??
Would just love to rip em a new ( well you get the point)
Just be carefull especially around this area if you are going to stop there, cheers.

Get telstra to lock the phone as well. Not just the number. That way they can't use the phone with another sim card.

Hi Mark.
Called in at Sleepy Hollow last weekend. Noticed that the backpackers had turned it into a defacto camp spot.
Cheers.

Mark,
Sorry to hear about this. Hope you get your phones back. It is a pain in the rear end isn't it. It makes you angry you feel like saying we had to walk for that it wasn't given to us

Mate I know the feeling, a few years ago I was pulled up near Rocky, middle of summer no aircon in the bunk in those days, feet hanging out of the bunk when a group of youngfellas draged me out of the bunk and stole my phone & wallet. Lucky for me I had very little money in my wallet & they took off when another truck pulled in.

Yes the Kempsey one is very bad. The other one beside the river near the new shopping centre is a bit dodgie as well. Many people park caravans there while they shop at coles.

Sorry to hear about the phone and wallet. Certainly know what I would be doing if I caught a person doing that.

Mark.Shame you didn't have a good dog in the car that could sort these young fella's out.Sometimes it's worth having a man's best friend by your side to look after such scumbags.

It would have been nice to have had one phone so you could call the other one and see where the ring tone came from :-)

D200Dug

these scumbags just made their 1 st mistake after taking the phone........i looked at my telstra on line bill this morning and after 2 pm yesterday(after it was knocked off) they made a phone call from my mobile.Ballina police are now checking that number as to address and they are going to have a chat with them.

Just goes to show you dont have to be very bright to be a criminal.!!!

Oops first mistake stealing phone, second is using phone to make a phone call, third mistake is ringing a number which would come up on a bill. 4th is being stoopid and doing all of them in the first place.

hopefully the police will prosecute to the full extent of the law.

There's a lesson in this to all of us, Lock our vehicles up. and don't trust anyone at rest area's, well those who don't have an E.Oz sticker!!!!

Sorry to hear of the theft, maybe this is one of the reasons that it is now an offence in Victoria to have your vehicle unlocked if you are more than 3 metres away from it.

Whats that saying, Live By The Sword Die By The Sword, those Mongrels will get caught, it would be nice to spend 10 minutes with each of them in a locked room, and teach them how to respect their fellow human being.

Bad news Mark.

But you're right, most of these opportunist crims are not real bright. Had a stolen car dumped out the front of our place once. Rang the cops to report it as it had been there too long. When the cops came around to check out the car, he informed me they had already caught the culprit. Apparently, he got stopped for speeding in the stolen car earlier that day and had given them his actual name and address. When the car was later reported stolen it didn't take Sherlock Holmes to put 2 and 2 together! Picked him up as a permanent resident in the nearby caravan park.

Hope they get the 2 guys mate!

Cheers
