Been going thru the archives on the $99 Aldi cryovac machine. I see that a few people use them, but difficult to glean the quality rating. Anyone got anything good or bad to report on these machines, esp when compared with the more expensive Sunbeam.
Am currently in Melb this week and was thinking of buying one (sadly no Aldi in WA).
Thanks,
Gerry

Gerry,

We've had one for about 18 months, works fine.

Cheers,

Jim.

I bought one and I'm happy- their refill rolls are a bargain as well.

In the end I couldn't justify the cost of the Sunbeam unit!

Don't hold your breath Gerry, Aldi usually sell out of these sort of appliances very quickly.
Their specials are only for 1 week.
When did you see them advertised ?

barry

Looks like I duck down in the morning and get one.

Gerry

We have one, and love it.
Originally was an experiment, before we brought a "good one."
Had it for 3 years now

SWMBO did 78 or 80 meal lots, and we packed them into our Engel, before a 3 month trip last year.

Have recently put 1/2 a deer, and goat through ours ( in meal lots ) and frozen it.
Now the purists will can me for freezing our meats, but we find it suits our needs well.

A knack to start ours, was to put a little pressure, from the heal of your hands, along the bar to help it get going.

Sumbeam bag rolls, from "Hardly Normal" (harvey norman) work in the Aldi job..

Will do the job till I find a real good one, and that one will have a variable vacuum and heat timer on it, but I think they are expensive $$$$$$$$

Cheers
Bucky

Got it! Looks fine.
Aldi in Inkerman St, St Kilda still have about 6 units on the rack as of Wed morning.
Now to find room in my baggage to get it home to the West....
Thanks, everyone.

That's the go, but in Wonthaggi they didn't have spare bags, after we run out.
But will keep an eye out next time we are near another Aldi.
Cheers
