I have had a couple of problems with the tyres on my duel axle caravan when one of the tyres has gone flat but before I realize what has happened the whole tyre is destroyed. There is a device that will give early warning of a flat tyre. Does anybody know what they are called and where can they be bought? I live in W.A.
Thank you

Hi Ray, also have a look at threads 69889 and 77509 as there is more info there.
We have a dual axle van and use a system called Jett 400C. we bought it from Derek of ABR who is a member of this site. We are very satisfied with it.
Another system that seems to be very popular & I believe it to be similar to ours is one called Tyredog. There has been some recent reports where people have been buying this system on Ebay at very cheap prices.
Good luck

Hi Ray,
Just purchased one of these gizmos and will be testing it next week when we go away. Works at
home at least! I am from
Perth also and I received my pack the day after ordering. It came from Warnbro!
Autogizmo seem to be the cheapest by far, especially if you are after more than 4 monitors.
See here:
AutoGizmo - TPM
All the best.

Hi Ray,
A word of caution, if your going to want to monitor the tyres on your caravan/trailer make sure you get a unit that has a antennae that picks up the signals that far away and relays them to your monitor.
Sensatyre have such a unit. See
http://www.hannibalsafari.com.au/remote.html for more info
cheers

The model I suggested above comes with a relay to ensure that wheels of a towed vehicle are picked up. Part of the 6 or 8 wheel package.

A flat tyre detector, as different from tyre pressure monitors, is a simple device. The most common appears to be an axle mounted switch that is operated when the lever touches the ground or road as the tyre goes flat. You would need a switch on each wheel/axle. These switches operate a warning light in vehicle, and allows you to stop before the tyre is damaged. Probably get a few false alarms off road !!
