The cars packed, the Tvan loaded. One day of work left then off for 8 days around the goldfields included the National Gathering. Off via Mt Elvire, Niagara then up to Wiluna.

We were going to go with others but with things happening we are now on our own unfortunately. But we will put our selves out and enjoy it for them as well.

As this is my last extended trip for 12 mths I am going to make the most of ithis one.

If any one want sme to have a drink for them just let me know and i will put myself out.

Alan

Hi Alan again,
We have pulled over at the wheat silos in Pithara and now on the way. At least we got out of town even thought we have only come 250k out but it feels great. Hit Paynes Find tomorrow then dirt all the way up to Wiluna. Hope there is no rain as it followed us all the way out here that why we are parked on the bitumen behind the silos.
See you there Julie and Brian

Hi Brian

I have been watching the forecasts as I am also heading through some remote country that will turn to #$% if it rains. But it looks clear from now on, anyway.

I will see you there, i will have the silver patrol with a Tvan (hopefully both covered in red dust) and depending on final route, I plan to be there mid afternoon Monday.

Hi Brian
We are heading up that way on saturday, Paynes Find - Sandstone - Wiluna, hope you haven't dragged the rain up with you. Like you hoping the Patrol and Spacevan wil be covered in DRY red dust NOT wet dust. See you on Sunday
Cheers

Hi Bentaxie,
Weather is freezing but the rain has all gone. We have come through the Payne's Find Rd to Sandstone today and the road is in excellent condition and where all open. Our van has hardly any dust on and we reckon they must have only just graded it. Have pulled over in an old mining site just out of Sandstone and boy it just seems to be getting colder.
Cheers Julie and Brian

Gidday

To everyone who has not had a experience with the Wiluna Pub, good luck to you is all I can say, it’s not exactly a tourist joint on the wrong night.

Be a bit careful........ The Birdsville Pub it’s not, and don't expect it to be.

The local blokes can get a bit frisky after a few drinks under their belt. I lost a couple of teeth in that pub back in 2007 minding my own busines.

You’ll see what I mean when you sight the pub.

Regards

Kim

I know what you mean, I kicked around the Goldfields back in the early 90's.

Had my nose broken in Marvel Loch in '92.

Laverton in '93 was an eye opener as well.

Had my nose broken again in 95 when i owned my own pub as well.

These places are working pubs and not tourist attractions. The owners make more out of the regulars - usually miners - than what they can with tourists. These days we dont bother with pubs, when we travel we are usually self sufficient. If we have to we get take away in the early afternoons and move on.

G'day Alan

The same for me - but I worked all weekend so I could finish 1 day earlier - today. Gives me a bit of extra time to prepare and pack the car.

I am looking forward to getting out to the country and camping. Will be spending about the same time as you getting around the goldfields including the national gathering.

I will probably catch up with you at Niagara - which is looking like a defacto mini national gathering for a day. We will be there for Saturday night.

If I see you there will have a drink with you.

David

I will probably be at Niagara on Sunday night, so if you are still there I will catch you then.
