Went to the salvage auctions Thursday and picked up a rolled HJ80 1HD-T. Not cheep $4900 but at least I now have an Turbo Engine to replace the 1HZ plus all the spares I will ever Need. LOL

The 1HZ was good in the rough going but lacked pulling (As in Trailer) power.
So I am about to commence the Transplant are there anything I should be aware of in performing this procedure.

Thanks
Wayne B

Hi Wayne,
Good to hear that you have found a motor for your old girl.
Now the fun begins
At lest you'll have all the bits at the ready to do the swap. Have your Big Ends done while shes out, How many k's on her?
You'll have to do a blog of the transplant and progress.
Keep us updated.
Cheers

Took your advice and had a look at he BE Bearings. They have been done before 20thou undersized bearings.
Bearings looked ok except for a few scratches. Ordered a new set of ACLs for it.

Engine is as clean as a whistle inside no sludge at all.

May have to use my old Gearbox ( Center Diff) wiring harness, different connections on the 151F gearbox. All other connections are already included in the original wiring harness so should be simple swap.

Tell you what the engine is bloody heavy I had to would a overhead gantry as my normal engine lifter would not look at it.

Cheers

Id be checking the engine over very carefully. The trouble with buying a rolled vehicle wreck is you dont know how long (if at all) the vehicle was left running upside down being starved of oil.I hope you got a good one.
And definately check your big end bearings.I'd replace them anyway.

Started the engine Sunday runs like a kitten. Very quite compared to the old 1HZ

Engine has 360,000km on it or at least that is what is on the Odo.

The vehicle has been looked after by the previous owners and everything looks to have been maintained correctly.

There are two stickers on the RHF door pillar that indicate the vehicle has had 2 recalls done. The last one being 2000 which I think was the bearing check.
Anyone know the code for the bearing recall.

I will drop the sump and check them anyway.

Cheers

Waaayne My shopping list includes!!!

Just kidding but if you don't need the bottom half of the dash mm me.
What you have done is probably cheaper. We rebuilt ours 12k then after complaining for 12 months it isn't right (using oil ,crap power) the head came off to find the stems full of oil. The new??? seals went hard. Used a lt of oil every second tank of fuel. Then when all went well, couldn't fault it the metal hose off the turbo split which resulted in oil every where again grrrr . Thank god the lot was under warranty. We were travelling all around the country side while it was sick including two 4x4 parks (stuff I will only walk up, I wont go up in the car, he is mad) and from the Cape to Byfield. Try do that with any other brand or newer vintage. NOT
Ha we are going back to where it all started The Strez Track, the turbo intake valve broke open. For a shella I know more about the 1HZ T than I need to.
Cheers.

Is that the bid with the Bonnet and fuel flap handles. If it is then let me know.
Now let me see I payed $4900 for the vehicle so I could sell the lower dash to you for say mmmmm $4850. Sounds about right. LOL.

Just kidding :-) anyway let me know if that is the part you are looking for.

Cheers
