Just about to put some BF goodridge tyres on the bj42, can anyone comment on the size and make. i think its the best combo to get more higt and width without buying new rims. Any advise would be great. i am lokking to pay around $980 for four new ones, so $245 per tyre.
Thanks,
aaron

Aaron,

Have a look at Cooper sure tracs.(ST or STT)
STT being a Mud Terrain type tyre
They may cost you a little more but you will appreciate them while your having a beer watching your mates change flat tyres in the heat and flies of that outback gibber country

Aaron, consider the Cooper ST in the 255/85R16. i am running them at the moment and am really happy. Gives a bit more height and width when deflated for sand etc.

Aaron...I'm running 235/85/16 MTR's on standard split rims on my hilux and they seem as tough as nails. The extra clearance is great, and being a proper LT, seem very puncture resistant etc.

What size/width rim do you hope to put them on?

Cheers
Dean

Gday Aaron
The 235x85 is a tubeless tyre that is thesame diameter (32 inches) as a 750/16 but a smidgeon wider. People like them because they can be ran tubeless on a sexy rim (read less flats) I would steer you away from them if you are going to keep the splitties because it is very hard to keep the wheel weights on the rims with the wider tyre masaging at them all the time, stick to the 750. However, if you decided to buy some nice tubeless rims for the 42, either 6 inch std cruiser chromies or white sunnies, read on.
The 235 tyres are available in all sorts of brands and are a good choice. If you want bigger diameter, the 255x85x16 is a mega tyre 33 inches diameter and about 7 inches wide, a bit too wide for a split rim, but excellent for a 7 inch sunny rim.or if you wanted, a 6 inch white/chrome tubeless rim off any cruiser/patrol/navara/rodeo etc etc etc
I had them in the BFG mud pattern, but they are also available in all other types, the Cooper ST being an awsome all round tyre. My opinion of them is to ditch the warrenty as they will last as advertised, and you dont need to pay the balancing/rotating charges every 5k.
