I read in Saturdays West or The Sunday Times that a certain Mr Andrew Forrest owns a bit of property along the Ashburton. Don't know if he caters for campers though.

Contact council at Onslow or Tom Price, they will be able to tell you, long time since i have been there but assuming you mean at the concrete crossing, the fresh water side was always better but the saltwater side was of course closer to the fishing so depends what you want to do, more shade up stream at the freshwater

Hi Duane
Drove down there for a look from Onslow few days ago and surprised how many camped there. Some where packed in closer than a caravan park, that was above the causeway in the fresh, didnt see any camping spots with anyone there below that but did not look too hard. Becoming a very popular free camping spot but don't know for how long as heard rumours in Onslow about big changes in that area over the next few years. The water is a long way down a steep bank from camping sites and river is low due to season. There are still spots to camp though but didn't pull in and look at all of them cheers
