Alice has had around 10mm in the last 24hrs and its still raining. Its not a lot yet but because we've had such a wet year it wont take much for road closures to start.
Anyone travelling around this way needs to keep an eye on the weather and road reports.

Cheers

We are in the Alice at the moment. It has stopped raining for now but very cold. Haven't heard of any road closures yet, but who knows. Heading to Uluru and the Olgas tomorrow.

According to BOM website the rain appears to be local to Alice Springs, no rain at Gemtree or at Uluru.

Yeah mate, its all localised and fairy light, but it wont take much to close roads after the water we have already had this year.

Well, we are back in the Alice after doing Uluru and the Olgas. Went to have a look at Kings Canyon, hoping to get a cheap room (still raining, hate packing up the campsite when wet). No joy, only room was $400 per night!!!!!!

Had a look around Kings Canyon, definately need to spend some more time there, and hot foot back to Alice via Mereenie Loop.

Mereenie loop VERY wet, sliding all over the place, took us 5 hours to get to Hermannsberg from Kings Canyon. I would be avoiding all dirt roads until the rain stops now. In my view, Mereenie Loop road should be closed, but it is still open as I am typing this.
