whiteish greyish smoke 97 2.8ltr diesel hilux

as title says of a night time i see whiteish/greyish smoke from exhaust between 2-4 revs not thick like but noticeable all the same is this just a fuel ratio problem running rich etc ? or something more sinister engine related hopefully not the later ??

your suggestions are appreciated

actually sore another 4wd in the merrylands area with 1 the other day too !!!!!!

perfectly normal and ratio is probably fine. worry when your mates tell you its blowing a reasonable amount of smoke in the day. Dont look for problems that arent there yet.

Mate I had 2.8D and currently have turbo prado, the hilux did it, the prado does it, nothing to worry about, The old lux will even show a bit through the day more so then the prado normally under heavy throttle. Dont worry about it unless its extreme through the day, eg heavy dark black smoke = over fueling, blue smoke= stuffed engine LOL. Dont worry about it drive and enjoy.The old lux I never reved over 3200, no point, revving the crapper out of it for nothing. Regards Steve M

i would'nt worry as it's common as said to see a bit of smoke from any engine from that vintage cheers

I had a similar problem 2 weeks ago, I had It put on a dyno and found it to be dirty fuel.

The problem came after I fueled up at a servo I hadn't used before, after the dyno tune all was good again, the cost was $345 well worth it and no more stress.

yeah i was thinking this @ 385 tho i might just wait wanna get my wheels and snorkel 1st and get it dyno'd then with snorkel also noticing a little wobble on right side fron when i hit 80 kms so have that checked too, prob from the pig i ran over when pigging the other week lol
