Teraa, came up from the ferry two weeks ago - as we were towing big camper it was slow going from Mungerannie to
Birdsville but a great trip because of all the water in the Moongera Channel (11 klms long). The
grader camp on the northern side of the ferry was busy stabilising the access road and once that was done they would be heading north towards the SA/Qld border. The detour at the Moongera Channel is quite soft and wouldn't take much to make some good bulldust patches.
Birdsville to
Windorah is excellent -
grader crews have been working from both Diamantina and Barcoo Shires to keep it as good as they can.

i just came from
Birdsville along the developmental road to
Windorah about 4 days ago, track was in excellent condition. some small sections they are doing road works on with minor detours, but i was able to easily sit on 100 kph without a drama on the rest of the track (not towing anything). lots of traffic heading along that road, be sure to slow for on coming vehicles, 2 vehicles in our convoy were showered with rocks from inconsiderate oncoming vehicles not wanting to slow down or move over, and they sustained cracked or chipped windscreens.
enjoy.

It makes you wonder, are these people who dont slow down first timers.I have been up there several times and always drop to 50/60 kph to help preserve my windscreen, but it takes two.
happy travelling Wally

We've noticed that speed has picked up on the tracks making windscreens very vunerable and of course not many
places out here to get it repaired. Thanks for the info I am heading out on my own just a little worried now there is a rain system heading over
Birdsville today.
