Hi guys,
I'm doing a quick run(work trip) through from Quiplie to Windorah, on to Jundah ,Stonehenge,Longreach ,Barcaldine ,Muttaburra, past Cameron Downs to Hughenden. Anyone have any comments on current condition of roads, and nice pubs to stay at :) ? Leaving in about 10days.
Thanks in advance

Memeber "The Landy" is doing a trip out there now and has a good blog on this region reccomending a stay at the Jundah Hotel. Worth trying to find this blog. If you can't find it, post a follow up and I will get it and add a link for you.

Do you have to go to Windorah? if not, the road through Welford NP is nice and cuts out Windorah between Quilpie and Jundah. You would have to check on road conditions out there as it can be closed from wet weather.

Enjoy the run, wish it were me.
Trevor.

Thanks heaps Trevor
I want to go thru Windorah (so I can tick it off my list ..) ,but I'll have a bit of computer gear on board , so I can't really go sightseeing too much. I might have to make Jundah an overnighter..
I have about 11 business days to get from Brisbane to a couple of stops near Miles, a couple near Roma, Jundah, Stonehenge, Barcaldine,Jericho,Muttaburra - Hughenden, a trio near Mackay ,and back to Brisbane.
So, I haven't got a great deal of extra time , but I'll certainly have my eyes open.
I'm probably mainly concerned with the road from Muttaburra to Hughenden.I have dropoff halfway along .
Anyway, thanks for the info mate.

Muttaburra best on a Friday , Ask at Library if Doug Langdon is available to show you the museums , [ Doug is the man who discovered the actual Muttabusauras dinosaur fossill in 1963], pub is alive on Friday nights with locals from town and surrounding properties.

Unfortunately ,I won't be in Muttaburra for the Friday.
Itinery at the mo :

Load and leave Tues 13th. Brisbane to Wandoan.
Wed :Miles and Roma .drive to wherever maybe Quilpie
Thurs :Quilpie (or wherever I decide) to Jundah
Fri : Jundah and Stonehenge (stay at Stonehenge maybe?)
or on to Longreach or Barcaldine?
Mon:Barcaldine,Jericho,Muttaburra.
Tuesday: a job along the Muttaburra to Hughenden road, then a job at Stamford.
Wednesday : Prairie(1 job) and on to Mackay
Thursday or Friday: Mackay to Rocky(3 jobs along the way)
Get to Brisbane whenever probably saturday , sunday.

I think the novelty of driving solo by then would have worn off.
