I'm interested to hear about the experiences of owners of older 3.2 diesel Pajero's, especially as they go beyond the 200,000 km mark. I understand that they can have uneven/early rear tyre wear with heavy loads. What tow ball weights are people running? Has anyone had to have their auto trans reconditioned? Thanks. Rob.

Can only say, my neighbour has an 06 exceed 3.2 DID and has just clicked over 200 thou, only thing he has had to do so far is replace the timing chain tensioner (more of a precaution) There is a little bit of Teflon popriveted to the metal guide that the chain obviously runs/taps and can wear the teflon away/down leaving the pop rivets exposed which could cause the timing chain to grab hold of, even on the forums I have read seems to be about the only common thing, other then scrubbing the rear inside of the tyres due to the IRS and also depending on weight on the towball/towing, seem to be very reliable, good on fuel, he gets 13.6L per 100 round town (alot of start stop stuff for the kids/shopping etc) under 10's freeway and thats not babying it. Great vehicle my wife likes it better then the Grande Prado of ours. I believe the motor is more or less pulled from the mitsi canter/fuso (not 100% sure on that only heard it the other day) but they are a bit noisier inside then the prado's but not over the top, Seem to hold their value quite
well. All round seem to be a great vehicle, plenty of people using them for their tow wagon Regards Steve M

I sorted our Pajero rear tyre scuffing with wheel alignment of the rear end. No problem once that was done.

As MrBitchi pointed out the Pajero club of Victoria web site very good source of info on pajeros. I had a NP for only 170,000km traded same on a new NT VRX. The NP was a great vehicle. I had a
suspension upgrade, Koni adjustables & King variable or load sharing springs. Never had a drama with rear or any tyre wear & towed at times heavy van & camper trailer.. Some owners never had a four wheels alignment & wheel balance when they change the vehicle from manufacturer spec's this must be done because of the
suspension set up on all Pajeros. In relation to towball weight if you are towing 1300kg or more Mitsubishi Motors Australia state a Weight sharing or distibution device should be used. If you are towing 1500kg or below the ball weight is 180kg if you are towing above 1500kg the ball weight drops to 150. I believe that is correct but if not someone will correct me I am sure. I never had any problems with with my auto very strong & with the selection of "manual mode" even better. The NT is more powerful,CRD motor, stronger auto, brakes & lower noise from the motor...personally I enjoyed the diesel noise like I use to enjoy the turbo whistle from my Patrol.
