Hi all
My 80 series cruiser has the standard alloy wheels it came with on the 40th aniversay edition. They currently have Mickey Thompson 265/75R16 tyres.
Can someome please tell me if some 305/70R16 will fit.
A simple yes or no from someone who really knows would be greatly appreciated cheers Dave

If they are 16x8" alloys then yes they'll fit. I run that size tyre on my 80 with the standard GXL 16x8" steel wheels.

Better size would be 285/75/16's and I hope your engine has a turbo or is a petrol, the old 1HZ diesel with bigger tyres will struggle and use fuel.

I believe the 40th Anniversary is around the 1996 period and the GXL have a 16 x 8 rims.
I also have the 305/70/16 tyres (BFG Muddies) on my 1HDT 80 series and think they are the best thing I have done... the tyres fill the guards that little extra and look good... and you can still use a 285/75/16 as a spare so that it is not haning down too far under the back of the car.
cheers

Slightly off topic..
Just an opinion from the other side. I have 305/70r16 on my 80 and I am taking them off on Saturday after 2500kms. Mabye it is just the brand of tyre I am using, but the car is all over the road. have lowered
suspension and re adjusted front arm bushes with little improvement. They look great but personally not my preferred choice. I am selling the them and going back to 285's.
Fuel consumption also went up, there is alot more weight to push around.
Tyres are pro comp all terrains.
