Hi,

I would appreciate knowing about going from Finke to Oodnadatta via Eringa rather than through mt dare and dalhousie.

I would appreciate thoughts on which is the more interesting way to go and what the time difference is likely to be.

regards, Mark

Rained in alice yesterday and that has forced me to change plans. The road to chambers pillar is now sloppy mud. Off to Marla and then down the track. Sitting here near Marl bore and it is very cloudy this morning. Could rain by the look of this.

There are a few pics in this slideshow from 2007.....
Much less traffic, so the road is likely to be much better (and more 'remote').
We enjoyed it a lot.

Cheers,
Peter

Hi there. I have read recently that the track from Dalhousie via Perdika to Hamilton is closed. So, if you go to Mt Dare and then to Dalhousie, you won't be able to take the direct route from there to Oodnadatta via Perdika. Instead, you'll have to back track up to Bloods Creek and then head West to the Oodnadatta Track.

Thats right Chris.

We had to right up to bloods from the south. Bit of a pain but oh well.

The only way to get to Oodna' from Finke without going through Mt Dare is via Abminga, this is a station track & is not maintained so is very rough & not travelled regularly.

It was certainly not rough in any sense of the word in '07 Jeff (see slide show above), certainly not much (any) traffic either.

Hi P n M,

The rains over the summer scoured out the creeks in the area & the station owners are building yards & putting in tanks for their cattle, but it is a nice drive if you've got the time.
