Hi all, so we have decided to stay at Dongara//Denison for October. There would appear to be 4 caravan parks to choose from. Does anyone here have and strong positive or negative votes for any of them? We are leaning toward the Dongara-Denison Beach Caravan park which is right on 'grannys beach'. Any and all 'inside information' is much appreciated. cheers, doc.

Yes that is a nice Park Big 4 I think..... gets very windy at Port Denison on the beach front, we stayed at the Park on the right hand side of the road, Leander Tourist park on Point Leander Drive just before you get to the Big 4 Park, a small park, very clean and Quiet and less wind as it is back from the beach about half a KM, they only have a few Van sites but some nice fully furnished Cabins at a reasonable price and the Managers live on site and keep a good eye on things, I will be staying there again when we go up there later in the year,we love the Dongara/Port Denison area, great fish and chips at the port denison Store, hope that helps, have a great holiday

Thanks Cobber- hadn't even heard of Leander Tourist park. I wonder if the other beachfront park - I think it is called Dongara Tourist park- is less windy. It Is further south than the big 4 one and looks to have more trees /shelter.doc.

chances are if you are talking about it being windy your talking sept to april rather than this time of year? While it can get windy in winter, its shortlived and not much SW.
Summer is 6 days a week SW and 20-30 kn.

As well as the reports you get, have a look at this map. You can zoom in and look at the parks. There are also links to the parks web sites.

We stayed at the big 4 in Sept last year.. Had gale force winds and thought the van may get tipped over it was that strong.
We were in the drive throughs down the back and we were furtherest from the beach

Also the amount of sand that was blowing past didnt do the paintwork a lot of good.

Is reputed to be the windiest place in WA along with Geraldton and not for nothing either.

Yes it can be very windy up that way.
We used to stay at the stay at the Big 4. Very exposed, ablutions clean - no shade.
Have also stayed at the Top Tourist park [Dongara tourist park] George street Pt Denison. Just back from the beach. Very nice and shade. Would definitely recommend it.
