This is a great site to help you on Ozzie exploration. I there there a similar site dealing with New Zealand ?

I will have two weeks driving time and I will fly in and out of Christchurch.

Thanks,

Willie.

Hi Graham,

We did two weeks in the North Island last year and had a great time.

I really need a suggested route for the two week trip so that I do not miss any of the important "must see" spots. I am going with a mate and our wives, so we will not want to be driving long distances every day.

Personally I would like to do some sort of loop which includes the Marlborough and Central Otago wine districts and the west coast. What do you think ?

Thanks,

Willie.

Hi Willie,

We went anit clockwise as this means you wife, is not looking over the never ending cliffs that are on the coastal loop. 2 weeks will be quick. Do not get anything larger than a merc sprinter or equivilant if you are getting a motor home. We had a larger united and it was trickly on the NZ roads. They are not in love with safety rails on the edge of the road there, even thought they are lovely people.

Stay at Top 10 parks there and if you are a Big 4 member, you will not need to become a top 10 member. Take your card with you.

Make the south last as it really is the highlight. We did the Milford Sound overnight cruise. (Milford Mariner) There is only one company that does it. Expensive (About $1500 a night) but certainly worth it. A bucket List event.

While not directly answering your query I found www.jasons.com particularly useful when we did 2 weeks over there in 2005. It was good for accommodation and car hire in our case but there was lots of other stuff on the site too.

Alex, Carpe and Carl - thanks for your help. Graham has gone to a lot of trouble with a list of spots and an itinerary, so with all your help I am getting somewhere.

Thanks again,

Willie.
