Are their any comments for/against after market chips for the listed Patrol? Any proof in the pudding experiences? We are pulling a 2.7tonne van.

I fitted a Steinbauer P-Box to my GU 2.8TD Manual and have towed my 2.5 tonne van across NT and WA without any problems. Didn't improve fuel economy but then I wouldn't expect to with such a load behind.

Paul, I don't expect to improve fuel economyu, but was your power boost noticable/worth the expense? Did you put a bigger exhaust in as well?

Antandnat, Improvement was noticeable with just the chip being added so I decided not to spend more on the larger exhaust that I had initially contemplated. This chip did start out giving me a very dirty exhaust that blackened my van but this was overcome after I adjusted the power level, which is easily done on this unit.Image Could Not Be Found

Presumably you have a manual Patrol? The auto can only tow 2.5t!

A 2.8 can tow 2800kg & a GU 3200kg Manual. I don't recall an auto 2.8 diesel!!!

I run the safari dtronic, big improvement in power, best thing is it piggy backs so can be installed or removed in minutes.
