I bought a lightly Rolled HJ80 with 1HD-T engine. The reason being that I wanted the engine to replace the 1HZ I have at the moment, I am looking for a little more power.

Really only wanted the engine but now I have all these spare parts that are in good working order. What should I do.

1. Keep them for parts in case I need them later, I have no intention of getting rid of my HJ80 ever.

2. Sell the main parts including my 1HZ old Engine (Nothing wrong with it) Gearbox and Transfer Case. Then throw the body away

3. Plonk my 1HZ back into the Rolled car and sell it as an almost complete unit for around $3000. I payed $4900 + Costs for the Wreck about $5300 all up

You can bet as soon as I sell something like a Diff ect. I will break one then have to pay twice as much to replace it. LOL.

Cheers
Wayne

Mate,
doesn't matter what you do, it will be WRONG!!!!!

I had an old valiant I used to drive, and 1 for spares sitting in the back yard, sat there for years and I never needed any thing off it, after lots of grief from my parents (it was their house) I took it to the tip.
Within 3 weeks I needed window winder, door glass, diff center, inlet/exhaust manifold.
If you have to room Get what you can off the shell that may be of use, turf the rest, IMHO.

Murphy's law will always apply :))))

ditto, on that, cause that barstool Murphy's law is a bugger.

Same deal here i threw something out and guess what needed it the day!!!
Like Shane said, if strip it and you have spares. Most of it will hang nicely on a big wall, and you not hard if you can weld/ big shed.

Cheers

Wayne, you lucky bar steward, you have 8 acres and a big shed and you even have to ask the question.............lol. I think by your last line you already know the answer and you just posed the question to make me and others like me jealous.
But just in case you actually want my answer

KEEP IT........as others have said the day you throw something out is the day before you will need it.

Cheers Pop

PS don't let 'er indoors tell you it looks untidy..........lol

Pop.
HEEEHEEE You have caught me out. :-)

Seriously though I was going to sell the parts to minimize the cost of the engine transplant But I think I will keep down the back for parts.

Thing is though If I ever need a Part as sure as **** I will be some 2000 or 3000km away in the outback.

Cheers

Wayne, John said he would take the diffs out put the old engine in and try to sell it if your handy with the work or have a panel beater mate. (After your original project is finished lol). We bought a very standard 95 petrol to drive around while the old girl was getting a heart transplant. We have done a bit of work to it tyres paint job and tinted windows and soon sell it. Whoops suppose that's broken the rule!!!

Old Girl.
I am ok with the Spanners no problem but Panel and Paint NO WAY

I have thought of getting it repaired needs a new roof with A, B and C pillars, 3 doors, LHF guard and LHR 1/4 Panel.

Recon it would cost me more then it is worth. Nar not worth thinking about.

If you have room keep the whole tojo and fill it with all your parts,as the wreckers want to much money for second hand parts, i have a shed full of parts and when i need a part i have it in the shed.

Cheers for now...Williamh...Bunbury...WA.
