Had a Primus IQ made by Tekonsha fitted awhile ago & have found out (the hard way) that it is constantly discharging my start/cranking battery. The unit was fitted by an auto electrician & I am wondering if he has made a mistake or the unit is faulty. Has anyone had problems with these units? Can I have suggestions for electric brake controllers. What is everyone using? Thanks

Wiring is Black Power, White Earth, Red From Brake light circuit (
mine cold side of switch behind pedal),
Blue to trailer
Shouldnt use power unless he has hooked red to wrong side of brake light switch. Then it will cos will have power ON all the time.
It should, when you turn ign off have two
little red lights which go out after 10 mins or so.

Further to my reply The black wire should go back to the battery via a circuit
breaker so has power all the time but it should go to sleep after a while as I said
It then wont use any power till you start the vehicle again.
To actually answer the question you asked
Yes the Prodigy is probably the best unit, the P3 has more features which arent really needed.
You will find lots of users on here who dont seem to have trouble with either
of them.
