Will be in
Bourke Sunday night. Three caravan parks,
Mitchell, Kidman and Bullamunta caravan parks. Found some photos on the Kidman park on the web, about 6km out of town, not much on the other two. Does anybody recommend any of them. Would like to have a look around
Bourke and will
camp on the Darling later on down the river a bit more.
Jim

G'day Jim
I have stayed at the Kidman
Camp a few times and can recommend it. It's far enough out of
Bourke for the locals not to come by in the wee small hours and the facilities are good. Trucks can be a bit noisy on the road from
Cunnamulla but they have never bothered me much. We'll be staying there when we take a trip in about 2 months en route to the Coopers on the
Birdsville track and beyond.
Cheers

Jim Hi,
The managers at Kidman are very friendly & helpful, offered assistance when I had a couple of small problems Park would be the pick in
Bourke.
The paddle wheeler that cruises the Darling from the park is an excellent way to spend a couple of hours (cheap too).
Mike.

yes, good facilities and plenty of showers.
camp kitchen is also good.
With the rain out that way it would look like a coastal park.
Also heard the fish are biting with the Darling being a decent walking distance.
Shame the
North Bourke pub burnt down.

Had about the worst camping experience of my life at the one on the road east from
Bourke to
Walgett , I think the
Mitchell on
Mitchell St which turned out to be the highway.
Every B double in the world went past all night and the fence was what felt like 6 inches from the road edge but was in fact about 3 metres.
When we drove past the Kidman in the morning we kicked ourselves for not taking the trouble to drive out of town to find it, as it was a hundred metres or so back from thehighway North.

Jim, as said above, don't bother anywhere else other than Kidman's. You won't be disapointed mate.
Fred.

Yeah, I'd stay out of town, unless you like the smell of barbed wire in the morning

You are in the outback alarna shoes are a good idea all the time. I keep a pair of thongs under the drivers
seat.
Ask the cyclists in
Broken Hill about prickles.

Mitchell will be where i stay again , no probs at all and never heard a truck , tour bus picks up at front
gate , though you will find it hard to get a smile from caretakers.

I am currently sitting in the
Mitchell Caravan Park in
Bourke. It is an excellent park, with far more room on the sites than Kidman
Camp, a very nice environment, and close to the facilities in town. I am parked against the wire fence along the highway, but the trucks have not interfered with our enjoyment of the park. The only down side is that there are only two male and two female
toilets and showers apart from the en suite sites, but having said that, only once in 3 days did I find a full house. The other advantage of the
Mitchell is that it is dog friendly, whereas Kidman
Camp is not. The cruise on the PV Jandra, which starts and finishes at Kidman
Camp is outstanding, as is the Back 'o
Bourke Exhibition.
