Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone knows of any good deals on either 2 single hand-held CB's or a pair.
not really looking for anything professional or powerful, maybe just for use in convoy, or extended
campsite. but i also don't plan on buying kids toys.

Try Aldi. They had some a couple of weeks ago. Might still be able to get them.

I purchased a pair of GME TX 670's for our CSR trip a month ago from Ryda.

Excellent 2 watt units at a reasonable price. Even talked the seller out of the delivery charge. Prestige had the same price without delivery charge but were OO stock.

They look good and Iniden has agood rep. However, I'm no comms expert.
The Unidens come with a lot of extra gear but it's not gear I need for my purposes which is simple convoy work plus occasional point to point comms on bushwalks etc.
The 12v cig lighter charger (which you don't get with the GME pack) would have been useful for me except that I run an inverter anyway for mapping purposes so I can charge on a 240v basis.
Cheers.

It seems that 2w should be the minimum for your described purpose. I always check Prestige Comms first - hard to beat.

Was in Aldi this morning in
Coffs HArbour and they had a pack of 3 handhelds for $75 Other branches may have them as
well
You can get a
shop manager to ring the closest branch if your local one has run out.

I got a pair of unidens 1watt units and have had them for years and they are great. The packs comes with the charging dock and batteries. Never leave home without them.

I bought two of the Uniden UH720sx 2 watt units from Prestige Communications 6 months ago - they are a good performer and come with rechargable AA batteries.
Never buy a unit that runs on AAA batteries -the batteries don't last long enough and are costly.
