New Inmarsat Sat phone

Has anyone tried the new Inmarsat IsatPhone pro that was released July 1 yet?

Looks promising, List Price $699," shoud be available for $500 to $600" Call rates of around $1 per minute. ( all USD)

Phone is IP54 rated for dust and splash
Colour screen
Text, email
BLUETOOTH
Speakerphone
predictive text
near global coverage ( inc all of Australia)

Looks good on Paper and should shake up the other three. Only problem I can see is that it uses geosynchronous sats ( long voice delay)

I use the old Inmarsat Thrane & Thrane 3066 on the mini-m service , same satellites as the Isat phone uses, There is no noticable voice delay, never any dropouts, Excellent service, dont know why its not more popular, Its just like calling from a house phone, In fact these are used as fax / phones & payphone services in remote locations.

Just spoke to the Aust Distributer and the phone is not yet licenced for distribution in Aust, but will be soon. Cost will be much less than the other Sat phones currently available. Call costs may be higher though I suspect.
