Hi
I have just bought a car with a Bosch Silver battery stamped D22JJ and would like to know how old it is. I googled this but the only info I found suggested it is from April 2002, which I think is a tad optomistic. I am sure someone here would know.

Thanks Kc

Hi Kc
I have a 406 Peugeot bought new in August 2002 and still has the OE battery (hoppecke). It starts the diesel pug everyday and still refuses to die. So it looks like your Bosch could be the same story.

Hi KC,
Like Stan's Battery, The first one in the cruiser lasted well over 8 years. The original owner attached an A4 sheet of paper in the back of the log book and wrote down every thing he had spent on her, Kilometers, what he had replaced or added, Date, and cost of new item. The second one last 9 years, which I replaced and the third last 20 months.
I reckon under the right conditions you would more than likely get 8 years out of a battery.
Cheers.

If my memory serves me well, those Bosch Batteries were rebadged Century-Yuasa and commonly purchased from Supacheap up until a few years ago. It could be 2002.

Thanks... that's pretty impressive to think it may be 8 years old ...but also means it must be close to its use by date. I wonder if i should buy the same brand again, or are they now cheapened.

Buy a Century Yuasa Overlander and it will be the same battery.
Or buy an Exide Extreme - equally good.
Haven't seen the Bosch labelled batteries for a while.
Just stay away from sealed wet cell batteries and batteries with "Calcium" written on them.
