Hi Lou
The only spot where you can camp up there at the moment is the Town Common. All other areas are closed from the recent rain, with more on its way. Have said that, you can not get there from the south as the roads all closed.

Cheers

Thanks for the information, Stephen. We are planning to come through Wanaaring, Tibooburra, Cameron's Corner then on to Innamincka. So sounds like that's not possible now and I'll need to check how it is in September....appreciate the advice.

Hi Lou
It will all depend on when you were thinking of travelling and what rain they get.
Give the Corner Store a call closer to when you are wanting to travel.

Cheers

Qld hols start (private schools) 16th Sept or so.
Last year we were in Innaminka in these hols and there were quite a few people camping on town common, but its a pretty big area and people can spread out a fair bit.
Mind you we arrived just before the dust storm, went out to Coongie lakes, and then came back as it hit, and the place was PACKED! The new restaurant did a roaring trade and rightly so as the food was great.

I camped at Cullyamurra Waterhole with my daughter & her family during the recent July school holidays & there were very few campers other than at the Town Common. Bear in mind however, that most of the visitor sites had just been re-opened following the Cooper Creek floods. Since then, the visitor sites have been closed again following local rain ... & it's coming down again with Moomba having 25mm this week so far.
I reckon that by late September all visitor sites will be open again and I suggest you refer to the following web site closer to the holidays to get up to date info. I note that the Coongie Lakes National Park will not be accessible until November.

Innamincka status for camping

Hope you have a great holiday in September

Thanks Tommy. Starting to think we might leave it till a couple of weeks later. We haven't got kids so the timing is not an issue. I was just wanting to avoid going when it was too hot.

Well we all might have to rethink this years plans. Hubbys work has shut up shop for a week trucks brought back to the black stuff last night. He said there is water everywhere. If it rains again thats predicted I expect the whole place will be a mud bowl. We WERE planning on camping out there in Sept. Not looking good.

I hope the rain holds off soon. I checked the 28 day rainfall forecast and it suggests that there is little to no rain in the next 28 days. But as you all know Whether man are like used car salesmen there never 100% accurate.
28 day forecast NE Pastoral

Im heading up to Birdsville through Innamincka around the August 28th to head to the Birdsville races from Adelaide. I hope it holds off.

There really is heaps of space out around the common, so even in the holidays there will still be space. You could go out to Coongie Lakes as well which has even more space!
We found in Sepetmber the flies were pretty bad and it was getting rather hot but still bearable. We also had some rain and electrical storms at that point, so we had it all!
