Hi All

Had enough, as you do, so heading up to the gulf tomorrow from Brisbane and by the time we get mobile and a brief stop in Toowoomba to check out the four wheel drive and camper show will probably make Chinchilla for day one.

Has anyone camped at the Weir lately or are there better sites around for one night

Cheers Teza

Hi Tezza

It is a few kms out of town (bonus for us - quieter), but it is also a popular spot, so don't get there too late in the day. There are also around eight powered sites for the early birds (donation can be made at tourist info centre for power). Very pleasant place for an overnight. We were there last September.

Thanks Motherhen

We don't need power, but the quiet will be good. Seems about 7 ks out of town, so at the moment looking good .

G’day Teza,
Have a look at Archers Crossing Camp Ground in ‘Places’ updated by Sir Kev. I preferred it there to the weir. No one else there…. lots at the weir.
Regards,
Myles.

I know that spot LOL

Tezza MM if you want more details as I live in Chinchilla :)

If it actually decides to RAIN it might be too wet to get into Archers Crossing so the Chinchilla Weir may have to do :(

Thanks Myles and Sir Kev

If we get there early enough we will check out Archers Crossing first. If not then the weir looks good for an overnighter.

Thanks again

Cheers Teza

Tezza,

An alternate spot is Archers Crossing, if you want no facilities. Just a little further away from town :)

Cheers Kev

Hi Tezza,

Chinchilla weir is about 9 k's south of the town. We stayed there last November and had the place to ourselves. Water level was very low but would assume its much nicer now after the rains received in the area.

I just had a call from him and he is out there now :)

Had a few showers of rain so Archers Crossing Campground would be a bit too wet as it is nice black soil ;)

Cheers Kev
