Vacuum packing on the move

The idea of "resealable" bags may not be a benefit on the road, as they could cause contamination to the next product to be stored in them, just a thought.

Sunbeam have a rechargeable cordless one now as well, about $79.00

I use a similar product - the Snunbeam Foodsaver Vac420. It runs fine off a 150W inverter (although it works much better when the inverter is plugged into a power socket connected directly to the battery by alligator clips.

We use it to pack meat and perishables when touring. Easy to vacuum pack it in the car park, and stick it straight into the Engel.

Not sure if I would reuse the bags either... but the vacuum bags are fairly cheap anyway. Might do if I gave them a good wash...

Mr Bitchi,i bought 4 plastic containers smallish type could hold 6 av size steaks,Or 1/4k bacon 1 doz thin beef snags & what ever else you would like to fit in them they were silicone sealed from annaconda just as good as vacuume seal & wash out & use again.
Had no problem with any item going off over 6wks.

The new inventors last week had someone cooking food in the bag in a water bath.

It looked like a really interesting method of cooking

Our "home" Vacuum Preservation System draws 110 watts so I would have no hesitation of running it off the 300 watt inverter I carry in the vehicle.

As we are seldom out for more than a couple of weeks at a time, we have no need to take it with us, as the quantity of food to be sealed leads to preparation at home before heading out.
